What is TENS
What is TENS?

However scary it may sound to use electrodes and electrical pulses for pain relief, we promise that it works wonders on chronic and acute pain, and may actually replace certain pain relief in the future.
TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. As you may know, cutaneous is relating to the skin, and that is where the process begins. A few electrodes are placed on the skin, and a low voltage electrical current is pulsed through the skin to send those pulses along the nerve fibers in your body. The aim is to disrupt the electrical signals to the brain that cause pain. Studies have shown this to be very effective, however, it is best to check with your doctor before purchasing to ensure TENS therapy is right for you.
Your TENS unit will be about the size of your cellphone. It is portable, and connects easily to the skin to send a jolt of electricity through the never fibers. After the current is delivered, it blocks pain signals to your brain, and most people experience a significant relief of pain after this happens.
